As many of you may know, last Thursday (9 March 2017), our official local parents/carers forum Haringey Involve organised an event about therapies in the borough of Haringey. In this event, which sendPACT also attended, emerged a quite interesting topic: the Personal Health Budget.
It seems this could be another option of budget allocation that can allow parents/carers to pay directly for your child’s therapies as long as certain requirements are met.
We are really thankful to the group “Mark My Words Minnie Caldwell, No Good Will Come Of It“ as they had put together the following brief overview to inform parents/carers. You can also join their Facebook group here. I hope this will be useful to our SEND community.

3 PERSONAL HEALTH BUDGETS FOR THOSE WITH EHCPS
Personal Health Budget for those with EHCPs(health personal budgets are possible theoretically through EHC but only where there would be a health contribution, at the moment the health contribution is made through commissioned services so they’d have to disaggregate that budget from contracts to make that possible).
New guidance to include those with EHCP’s is called : Frequently asked questions: Introducing personal health budgets beyond NHS Continuing Healthcare

4.PERSONAL WHEELCHAIR BUDGETS (from England.nhs.uk)
The aim is to roll out “personal wheelchair budgets” nationally from April 2017, to cover everyone who accesses the current wheelchair voucher scheme.
